Prayer is not secondary to ministry; it is ministry. Therefore, we are doing our best to ensure that all of our plans and efforts start and end with prayer, and this extends to our support team. We have committed to finding at least 100 prayer partners who will pray for us on a daily basis before we get on the plane for Japan.
We know that committing to pray daily is a lot to ask, but we do not dictate when or how long our supporters ought to pray on our behalf. Our prayer partners can pray for any amount of time each day, at any point in the day—when you brush your teeth, drive to work, drink your coffee, have your lunch break, etc. There is freedom for each person to decide how to pray, so you can determine what works best for your schedule.
We like to provide our prayer partners with ideas and updates so that they know the areas where we feel that we need the most prayer. Below you can find some ideas for what to pray for each day. We also send out regular email updates with specific prayer requests.

Daily Prayer Ideas
Pray for God to grant success to our missionary effort. Pray for the lost to come to know him. Pray for us to be acutely aware of what He would have us do each day. Ask the Holy Spirit to send people to us whose hearts are ready to hear the Gospel. Pray we will recognize these opportunities and seize them courageously. Ask the Holy Spirit to cause a thirst for God’s glory and salvation in Jesus Christ to take hold of the people around us. Ask Him to guide us to them, and them to us.
Two of Us
Pray for our marriage. Pray we will be kind to one another. Pray we will remember to minister to each other as we are ministering to other people. Pray for us to cooperate well together. Pray for our purity. Pray our marriage will be a light in Japan, that it will show the love of Christ to those who need to see Him.
What Breaks your Heart?
Japanese orphans? Depression and suicide? Abortion? Divorce? Prostitution? Human trafficking? There are several symptoms of hopelessness that seize Japan. If any of them break your heart, focus on praying for the people who suffer from them, and pray that we will be able to minister to them well.
Pray for Genesis International College. Pray for it to grow. Pray for God to send Christian teachers and finance their way to Osaka. Pray for GIC to effectively provide a high quality education for those who deserve it and cannot afford it. Pray for GIC to shine the love of Christ into the surrounding community and into the lives and families of the students. Pray for Genesis Cafe, an English conversation practice outreach. Pray the conversations will naturally turn to Christ and that opportunities for sharing the Gospel will present themselves. Pray the students and their friends and families will come to faith in Christ. Pray for Daniel’s work in addressing the technology needs of the school.
Pray for our family. Pray we will be godly parents. Pray we will lead our children to Christ and share the gospel with them just as much as we do others. Pray for our family that misses us back home. Pray for our hearts when we miss them. Pray for those who we lead to Christ to feel accepted into a new family within the church, because their Japanese family may treat them as an outcast. Pray they will be able to lead their family to Christ.
Saturday in the Americas is Sunday in the East. Pray for the church in Japan to grow larger in number, deeper in faith, and closer in brotherhood. Pray for us when we worship together, that we will be able to worship in unity with believers from a different culture than the one we were raised in. That we will learn from our brothers and sisters in Christ who have a different background than we do. Pray that the Holy Spirit will unite us all in Christ, and that we can raise a joyful noise together to the same Father God. Pray that our love for one another will be a light to the nation that leads more to salvation in Christ.
Pray for God to supply all that we need to serve Him in Japan. Pray for the plane tickets. Pray we will find a place to live. Pray we will have the food we will need to eat. Pray that God will provide all the funding necessary for us to travel to Japan, and for us to live in Japan for the next ten years. Pray for those through whom God will provide this money, that they will be blessed through their offering. Pray for our family’s spiritual, mental, and emotional needs, that they will be nourished and provided for.

For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of the saints but is also overflowing in many thanksgivings to God.
One of the most common responses we get when we tell people we are moving to Japan is, “That must be expensive!” Not only is it expensive, it is one of the most expensive places in the world. This is one of the biggest practical barriers to sending missionaries to Japan, but it mustn't deter the church from extending grace and mercy to those who have never heard the gospel.
In order to move to Japan, we have to raise enough money to cover our one-time outgoing expenses and monthly living costs. All donations will be stewarded with the utmost care and responsibility, as we know it is God’s money and not our own. We will invest the resources we are given into daily ministry, including family care, evangelism, discipleship, church-planting, hospitality, education, etc. We pray that many people will be blessed by contributing and cooperating with us to supply the needs of our family and to serve the people of Japan.

Become a Mobilizing Partner
Is your heart stirred to reach the Japanese people with the gospel? Are you gifted with the ability to get people connected to ministry? Do you know others who might be interested in supporting or serving alongside our team in Japan? Do fundraising events, media production, or communications strategies excite you? If any of these are true of you, then we would love to connect with you. Our family's vision is to be in Japan long term as missionaries, but, more than that, we seek to see the gospel proclaimed among all Japanese people. In order for this ministry to be fruitful it will require investment from many people of various backgrounds and skill sets who are motivated to action.
At this stage in our ministry we are looking for volunteers who could help us with fundraising, media, and communications. We would like to build a small team of people to help us plan and implement a variety of projects that will raise awareness and gather resources for our family and our team.
