It’s January of the last year we have in America, of the year we will spend finding partners to send us, of the year we each turn another decade older…
It’s a significant year, and I can’t help but feel its weight heavily upon my shoulders. Along with the weight of importance is the excitement of new things to come after this year. In just one year from now, we will be getting on a plane and moving across the globe, God willing, to serve those he has broken our hearts to reach for several years now. There’s so much to do to get ready. There’s so much more to do once we hit the field.
If I get caught up in the excitement, I get nothing done. If I too narrowly focus on the work to be done, I loose the joy of serving my Father in Heaven. It is good to have balance. So I have decided this week that 2016 will be a year of being “faithful in the little things.”
“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.” Luke 16:10
Every little task, be it hosting a fundraising dinner or cooking dinner for my family, I will do to the glory of God. I will prepare myself and our family for the great work to be done in Japan next year by being faithful to the work God has provided me with this year. With that in mind, it’s time I get off the computer and get my kids ready for basketball.
God bless you in this new year with a heart that focuses on His glory and eyes open to His beauty!
